The Lee Bowers Scholarship
The Lee Bowers Scholarship Endowment was established in 2008 with a donation of $1,000 from a generous alumnus brother. With donations from 11 alumni brothers since then, as well as from the ZK Alumni Chapter, the fund has grown to over $13,000.
The fund is designed to provide annual scholarships using only proceeds from interest, thus leaving the principal intact and providing a financial foundation for the long-term future of Zeta Kappa.
In memory of the ZK and ΜΑΔ brothers who have passed into Chapter Eternal, and in appreciation of the 11 brothers who have donated, the Zeta Kappa Alumni Chapter is proud to announce the 2017 Lee Bowers Scholarship Award winners:
Nicholas Tregembo ZK 884
Pledged Zeta Kappa in 2015, Nick is a Cognitive Science major. For Spring 2017, he had a perfect 4.0 GPA while carrying 14 units. Nick currently is House Manager and is on the Philanthropy Committee. During the semester for which the scholarship was awarded Nick was the Recruitment Chair.
Nick is an active member of the Smittcamp Family Honors College and the Chamber and Concert Choirs on campus. Nick regularly attends both chapter and executive board meetings, always participates in philanthropy projects and often acts as a sober monitor at social events as part of the risk reduction program. This outstanding recipient is an Eagle Scout from the town of Los Banos.
Aaron Tesei ZK 875
Currently the Eminent Commander of Zeta Kappa Chapter, Aaron pledged Zeta Kappa in Fall of 2014. His major is Construction Management and he is from Madera.
During the spring semester of 2017 Aaron carried 14 units and his GPA was 3.64. Aaron is a Lyles College of Engineering Honors Student. His past leadership positions at Zeta Kappa include LEAD Chairman, Alumni Relations, House Manager, Social Chairman and Fundraising Chairman.
Aaron is currently doing an excellent job as EC and takes time to participate in a number of philanthropy projects such as helping with the CASA Crab Feed Fundraiser, several fund raising projects for Valley Children’s Hospital and work with Habitat of Humanity. This is not an all inclusive list as Aaron is very serious about giving back to his community.
Bernardo Pulido ZK 889
Pledged Zeta Kappa in Fall of 2015. Bernardo carried 12 units for spring semester 2017 and his GPA was 3.16 with a major of Kinesiology.
Currently Bernardo holds the position of chapter Scholarship Chairman, is also the assistant Marshal and last year was the chapter Recorder. Bernardo’s participation in helping CASA with their Crab Feed Fundraiser in September was much appreciated and Bernardo hopes to get more involved in various philanthropy projects going forward.
Congratulations to the award winners, and thank you again to the brothers whose donations have made the Lee Bowers Scholarship possible. It is our hope these scholarships will help these young brothers not only pursue their academic goals, but also strengthen the Zeta Kappa Chapter.
