ZK Alumni News Brief

Brother Jon Cartwright ZK 697

  • Years in the Chapter: 1999-2000
  • Currently Residing: Seattle, Washington
  • Occupation: State Comptroller, California Air National Guard

What’s up brothers? I’m currently assigned to Alaska Airlines in their Seattle headquarters for a year in program integration after a recent acquisition of Virgin America.

I’m part of a Department of Defense Executive Fellowship with Fortune 500 companies (Alaska, Apple, Biogen, Bloomberg, FedEx, Shell, etc.). We attempt to identify and bring back best practices into the government (since we don’t always do things perfectly).

It’s lucky timing for me since I just finished my coursework for my doctorate in Organizational Development and I’m writing my dissertation on Effective Leadership. It’s a great break after a stint in Afghanistan followed by a command tour in San Diego.

GO DOGS!

Brother David Mitzman ZK 314

  • Years in the Chapter: 1968-1971
  • Currently Residing: Los Angeles
  • Occupation: President, Travel Servers Inc.

Hello Brothers! I started my company Travel Servers in 1980. Travel Servers is a tour company specializing in motorcoach excursions for groups of all types. I also provide consulting services in the areas of marketing, sales, and public relations to other businesses.

I married my amazing and stunning wife, Shelley, in 1979. We are blessed with two beautiful and successful daughters, Elana and Gina.

My passion for playing tournament softball transformed 15 years ago to now playing tournament tennis (and golf when I have a chance).

My life is blessed because of my wonderful and supportive family, and my health that allows me to do what I enjoy!

CHAPTER ETERNAL

Brother James Orendorff ZK 193

  • Years in the Chapter: 1956-1960

Brother James Orendorff entered Chapter Eternal in October. Jim graduated from Fresno State College in 1960 with high honors, where he was named “Fraternity Man of the Year” as a member of Sigma Nu.

He was a business professor and chapter advisor for Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Troy University and officially retired from his career in Fall 2015.

In his time at Troy and working with the Greek community, he was instrumental in many initiatives and projects including the building of the new fraternity row in 2010. He also was awarded the Mr. Greek award at Troy’s annual Order of Omega Award Ceremony, honoring a man who represents the values and ideas of what it means to be a Greek Leader.

Please join us in remembering a fine brother of our chapter.
