Zeta Kappa Board Meeting
Meeting Minutes of 2/24/2016
- LC Ron Manfredi called the Meeting of the ZK Alumni Board to order at Marie Calendar’s Restaurant, Cedar and Shaw, 6:15 PM.
- Attending: LC Ron Manfredi (ZK306), Treasurer Mike Golden (ZK 300), Recorder Bill Davies (ZK 353), and Scholarship Chair Ken Peaslee (ZK 367)
- Absent: EC Steve Kelly (ZK 363), Alumni Advisor Jonathan Martin (ZK 761). Social Chair position is vacant. Alumni Attending: Chip Putnam (ZK 289), Chris Olsen (ZK 545), Felipe Arballo (ZK 705) and Chris Healy (ZK 701).
- Active Chapter members attending: LC Jesus Montes (ZK 868), Aaron Tesei (ZK 875)
- Previous minutes were approved.
- Treasurers Report: Brother Mike Golden presented to board and accepted. Brief discussion had on accounting for dues collection on website.
- Social: Upcoming events to report at this time: ZK Tailgate at Bulldog Baseball Diamond
- Brothers Chris Olsen and Mike Golden reporting date set for April 3rd, game starts 1:00 P.M… Brother Felipe Arballo appointed Tailgate Event Chairman with budget not to exceed $200. In addition to the tailgate there will be 3 inning softball alumni-active game before the game. Watch the website for details on this event.
- Scholarships: Scholarship Chair Brother Ken Peaslee is collecting new 2016 scholarships applications for Chapter members; deadline is February 29, 2016.
- House Report: Brother Olsen confirms the new security gate be complete. The Chapter Brothers keys for back gate distributed tomorrow. The Chapter has continued to keep house clean. The gate cost was $ 10,850.00 and alumni approved the payment for half the cost for the building fund.
- Active Chapter –Rush activities begin for Spring Semester almost completed for spring with Preference Dinner held February 12th at University Square Hotel nearFresno State.
- There were 4 candidates there and a table full of alumni. There are currently 5 pledges and possibly one more.
- The possibility was discussed for additional funding for Chapter representatives to go to Grand Chapter in San Diego but tabled until further specifics could be researched.
- Chapter Meeting isheld every Monday at 8:00 P.M in the student union Room 309.
- The chapter members will be participating in the Fresno Bee Kids Day distribution March 8th as fund raiser for Valley Children’s Hospital. Some of the locations to buy papers will be Palm and Nees, Minnewawa and Teaque, and Chestnut and Shields. So, please support the cause.
- Web Site: Brother Chris Healy reports “Send your news” section of site key element for expanding alumni contacts and encouraged brothers at meeting to make personal contact with others not currently alumni chapter members to participate in this way. He was promoting several areas of the website to increase the value of joining in, building scholarship funds and increasing dues paying members. All suggested are appreciated.
- Update By-Laws: It was decided that no new additions to the by-laws were needed.
- Brothers Mike Golden (East of Fresno State)and Felipe Arballo (West of Fresno State) will be searching this week for possible venues to hold a 65th Anniversary Celebration on the 21st of May this year with an alternate date of May, 14, 2016.
- Announcements: There will be a meeting March 2, 2016 at Marie Calendars for the purpose of evaluating a practical format for a 65th Anniversary Celebration of ZK.
- Next meeting: March 23, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., Marie Calendar’s at Cedar and Shaw. All alumni are invited. Please consider a board position.
